HOSTILE NOISE was an interdisciplinary festival titled Friction in Design, Art and Technology, presented at Rooms Hotel in Tbilisi / Georgia on April 18, 2026. Bringing together 19 participants from 4 countries, the project created a platform for exchange across design, art, technology, sound, performance, and media culture.

Co-curated by Karl Stocker and Sandro Asatiani & managed by Lana Labadze, HOSTILE NOISE brought together an international constellation of artists, educators, designers, musicians, curators, and media practitioners. The event framed friction not as conflict to be resolved, but as a generative condition through which new perspectives, collaborations, and forms of cultural production can emerge.

Event & Discursive Platform

The participant list reflects this transdisciplinary approach. It included Sandro Asatiani (GE), Tomislav Bobinec (AT), Katharina Diem (AT), Deta (AT), Nino Esaiashvili (GE), Feelipa (AT),  Gagosh Streetart (GE), Maria Amparo Gomar Vidal (ES), Schubertbarbie & Dr. Bernd Gutmannsbauer (AT), Bostjan Botas Kenda (SL), Reanne Leuning (AT), MO:YA Roland Mariacher & Werner Huber (AT), Igor Petkovic (AT), Gernot Passath (AT), Stella Rollig (AT), Karl Stocker (AT), Lina Tonev (BG), and David Angelo Tschmuck (AT).

In this sense, HOSTILE NOISE functioned both as an event and as a discursive platform. It connected local and international positions while linking contemporary artistic practice with questions of education, design culture, and the broader role of creative experimentation in society.
